How Santa Paws came about.

Hey there and welcome to the informal blog part of my website! Here you will find little snippets about me and my little business, as well as fun bits and pieces about Christmas, pets, family etc.

I thought a good place to start was explaining how the idea of Santa Paws came about! Ever since I was a little kid my parents insisted on getting a Santa photo every year. I am one of five kids and my Mum has always said it was nice to have a photo to compare year to year with all of us kids in it. As the years went on and we became teenagers (and now adults) we still continued these annual Christmas photos together.

Christmas photos look a little bit different these days compared to back in the day. Where it used to be all of us kids piling into Mum’s car and off to David Jones first thing in the morning for our Santa photo. Now we arrive in a few different cars and have to hit up the family chat to make sure we colour coordinate! Our Mum loves that she has a nice photo of all of us kids together every year.

One thing that always felt like our annual family Christmas photo was missing was our beautiful little dog Bonnie. She came into our family in 2008 and was the sweetest pet a family could ask for. It didn’t feel right that she wasn’t in our Christmas photo, she should have been the star!

My fiancé Brendan and I got our Golden Retriever Willow in 2020 which obviously meant we wanted to start our own tradition of an annual family Christmas photo! However when I started looking into where to get one done with Willow as the main star, it was proving difficult to find places that accepted animals and those that did had limited session times that you could attend.

It was then I had a little light bulb go off in my head, I should start a Christmas photography business that focuses on our pets!

So that is how Santa Paws was born!

Now going into its third year, Santa Paws values itself on being the go to Christmas photographer for Central Coast families. All our sessions are pet friendly and if you have a reactive pet we offer times with limited contact with other clients. Of course pet free families are always welcome too!

I hope you enjoyed this little insight into my small local business Santa Paws.
